With the increasing promotion of new energy vehicles, power battery recycling is becoming more and more urgent. Recently, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have jointly organized the selection of pilot demonstration projects for power battery recycling and reuse of new energy vehicles in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. A total of 18 power battery recycling and reuse projects have been selected.

Specifically, these projects cover the evaluation, recycling, comprehensive utilization and disassembly of decommissioned power batteries. From the perspective of comprehensive utilization, it includes the echelon use of power batteries in the tower base station and the construction of the echelon battery storage and charging station.
The publicity project also involved two car companies. Among them, BAIC new energy projects include demonstration application of echelon use of power battery based on assessment technology, construction of echelon use plant of power battery and recycling system; GWM projects include power battery full life cycle industrial chain construction.
If we start from the "Ten Cities and One Thousand Vehicles" project in 2009, the promotion of new energy vehicles in China has been 10 years, and a total of 17,000 new energy vehicles has been promoted in 2009-2012.After 2013, new energy vehicles have entered the stage of large-scale popularization and application. By the end of 2018, the number of new energy vehicles in China has reached 2.61 million.
According to the "5-year/100,000 km" warranty period for new energy vehicles, the China Automobile Technology Research Center has made a calculation. It is expected that by 2020, power batteries will enter the stage of large-scale decommissioning. By 2020, the total number of power batteries will exceed 200,000 tons (24.6 GWh). If 70% of them can be used for echelon, about 60,000 tons of batteries need to be scrapped.
At present, automobile enterprises, battery enterprises, raw materials enterprises and battery dismantling enterprises are aiming at this market. However, due to the early stage of market development, this field is still facing the problem of recycling of decommissioned batteries. Which areas are suitable for the echelon use remains to be verified. Who is most suitable for leading power battery recycling remains to be seen by the market, and the entire power battery recycling industry chain has not yet formed a complete closed loop.
